Whisper message yesterday while playing my male Sin.
"Hey, A/S/L?"
Didn't know that acronym was still being used AT ALL, much less on GW.

I dislike the kind of people that just kicks you without seeking alternatives, but you can't expect going to any end-game areas without being able to set any build.
Getting all primary profession skills at least is the basics once you beat the game in NM.

It's not just Monks. Whenever I try to run with a PuG (say, for a ZM), I see lots of Rits standing around, 90% of whom have only one elite: SoS. I'm always the one asked to switch to Twisted Prot or DwG or Resto or anything else, since the "other Rit" can only do SoS.
And then there are the folks who balk at spending a plat on a skill from a vendor...

UA is crap? Darn, that might explain why most people have it on at least 1 hero at all times and a lot of elite end game uses it.. (PUG FoWSC, DoASC -except records-...)

Oh, I could have, I just hate using Soul Twisting, and I wasn't in a Resto kind of mood =/

What you witnessed there was the Guild Wars hipster mentality. If it's popular, it's no good.

Trade less healing and protting for the ability to res bad players quicker. Yeah, its a bad skill for people who just can't avoid death. Its not at the level of being more worthless than an empty skill slot like some elites, but there is absolutely no reason to have it on your bar if you have better elites unlocked.
That said, this isn't the thread to discuss this in. My comment was mainly aimed at the silly notion that having extraneous skills unlocked is somehow beneficial.

You'll never know when they are going to change skills with an update. And then you won't be able to try out new builds when that happens, because you stick to a few builds with a few skills.
And when that happens, the builds you already have amy stop working.
And that's why you get as many skills as you can.

If a skill gets updated into something useful then there's nothing stopping you from buying it then, but buying all skills available just incase they become useful is beyond stupid.

Of course, it could be argued that anything else you could do with that million gold would also be useless and stupid, couldn't it?

It's as stupid as wasting hours for an armor out of pixels, worn by your pixel, virtual avatar in a virtual world. Seriously.
All in all, it's all about getting entertainment, enjoying your gameplay. Unlocking all skills is kind of an achievement - and even though i'm no PvPer, i managed to get enough Balthazar faction to unlock everything for my account, including skills i will never even think about. I enjoyed it - maybe not the whole long process, which took a lot of my Balth 'farmed' at JQ a long time ago, but certainly finally getting everything done feels good.
On topic, it's not about playing the game, but a bit remotely related - some of the stupidest things i encountered lately is Lemming's attitude as a moderator, deleting posts and locking threads for no viable reason. Way to go!

Well, duh...just like summoning spirits while wielding daggers makes them only able to attack at melee range.

Heh, that reminds me of people saying silly things about the animal companions, like:
- The spiders cause poison
- The Lynx attacks faster.
- The bear deals more damage and causes bleeding and knockdown with an attack.
I was like: "Come on! You are having the pet yourself, you are using it, and it's not happening any of that!" And they kept insisting!

The bear used to cause bleeding with its brutal mauling skill. They removed the bleeding, but left the skill.

Basically this. I find UA to be crap too. I don't understand why people bring it at all. Much less on a monk. It's like a monk saying to the team "I'm terrible at healing, you guys will probably all die, but don't worry, I can res you." How about you skip the deaths and the resses, and bring a healing skill that will actually do something?

Exactly, if Unyielding Aura improves efficiency for teams, then play around with builds, dying and reviving is never faster than just keeping the party alive. For, even if only a split second, that is less damage you are dishing out, and therefore, killing things faster.

Not the stupidest thing I've heard, but it's something I'm getting fed up with. It's been happening all the time lately, probably because of the high prices: people trying to buy materials off me for less than what I can sell them for to the trader, and behaving like jerks when I point this out to them.
